Beautiful Kiti village and its church built by Angels

Let’s talk about Kiti. Normally I do my best to present only facts from my journey in Cyprus. I will research, and check, and do my best to tell you the truth.

But this time, I can only present you the legend of how the church from Kiti was built. Because it is such a beautiful story that it would be a pity to spoil everything with what the scientist and common sense will say it is real for most of us.

A new look for Larnaca tourist center streets

Soon we will have a new look for Larnaca old town. In maximum 2 years, we will hardly recognize the place. Some of the streets in the tourist area will suffer a total rehabilitation, and in the end, they will have a ”new modern look”. The buildings will not be touched, just the streets.

The cost of the investment is more than 3,5 million euros and the work will start at the beginning of 2024.

Larnaca Villages Trips

Zygi, the quiet village by the sea

Zygi is a small, quiet village that has a nice beach and lots of fish taverns. What makes it special to me is the road that takes you there, because it goes close to the sea and lets you discover new beautiful places to add to the visiting list any time of the year.

So, if you want a different kind of holiday on the island, you can at least pay it a visit or even set up your base here.

Oroklini Beach. Yes or No?

It has been a long time since I went for a walk in Oroklini, near Larnaca, at the beach area where the hotels are directly on the seashore.
And if I still arrived, I realized that it wouldn’t hurt to show you what it’s like around here, in case you’re thinking of visiting the island during the winter and you find accommodation you like in the area.

The secrets of Larnaca City

I found somewhere the legend that Larnaca, or after its first name – Kition – was founded by none other than the grandson of NOE (yes, the one with the flood), who was called Khittim. This man came to the island about 6000 years ago and founded the settlement. I say that it is better to keep the original name, because the current one comes from LARNAX – which means clay coffin in ancient Greek. Basically, because there were many cemeteries in the city of Kition, they ended up calling it Larnaca. Now I don’t even forget where the name of the city comes from.

Larnaca – Mackenzie Beach

Mackenzie Beach is sought after because it is the perfect place to watch planes land or take off. And in summer, in high season, there are enough to satisfy any aircraft lover. In fact, if you have a day flight to Cyprus and are lucky enough to have a window seat facing the shore, you will get a close-up aerial view of the beach I am talking about here.

Finikoudes, Larnca

Finikoudes – the street with palm trees, beach and restaurants

Finikoudes is the busiest area of Larnaca all year round. It prefered by tourists and locals who like to have their frappe at cafes that have a beautiful seaview. Although I think the view is appreciated more by foreigners than by Cypriots. Finikoudes equals 700 meters of fast food, restaurants and cafes. Beautifully lined ground floor buildings with expensive apartments with unobstructed sea views. It all starts at the marina for pleasure boats and the pontoon where you can go for a ride on the tourist boats.
