You are an adrenaline addict and you like to fly? You love the sea and you want to check out the shore from above? Then you have to try a trip with the paramotor in Ayia Napa or any other place in Cyprus.
I’ve seen it flying many times at Cape Greco area at sunset. He is flying also at sunrise, for those of you who prefer that time of the day. These are the two moments in the day you can book your flight for and the reason for that is the weather and safety measures.
Paramotor fly in Cyprus
Flying with a paramotor means that you will be sitting in the trike together with the pilot, you will be attached to a paraglider, you will take off and fly as high as the weather will allow it, or your stomach.
The flight will be above 100 meters, but not too high so you don’t shake hands with the pilots from the airplanes preparing to and in Larnaca.
In the summer, when all the water sports are open, those areas will be carefully avoided, for safety reasons again.
You will have a helmet and the trike is equipped with a second paraglider. Jamie, the expert, says he never had to use that one, so that’s a very good thing.
How fast a paramotor goes?
The paramotor we are talking about will fly with maximum 70 km per hour, and the minimum is 20 km per hour. Basically, you could fly from Ayia Napa to Larnaca in less than 1 hour if it wasn’t to have the restricted area from Dekhelia.
Because of that, you will only fly in Ayia Napa area.
Who can take you up in the skys?
The person who can take you in this adventure is Jamie. He has been flying this machine for 11 years now, he has a license to do it, and he can help you see Cyprus from the sky for some good minutes.
He likes the adrenaline rush and wanted more at some point, so he learned how to fly the paramotor. And if you wonder, he never had any incidents when he was flying with the second person on the paramotor.
In which areas can you fly?
Jamie is flying mostly in Ayia Napa. He lives here, he knows the area very well and it is the easiest. But, he is enjoying a good flight in Mazotos area, close la Larnaca airport, and he flew at Kourion, an area in Cyprus known to be one of the best for paragliding.

You have to know that the flight will start from Makronissos Beach area, and, as I mentioned it from the beginning, the only hours when the weather is good for this kind of activity is early in the morning, at sunrise and one hour before sunset.
Also, you should know that the price for 1 trip is 120 euros.
The last thing I have to mention, but a very important one is that you kinda have to weigh not more than 80 kg to be able to fly. If it’s more than that, then you better check with the expert and see if it is possible or not to enjoy this experience.
What is a paramotor?
Paramotor is the generic name for the harness and propulsive portion of a powered paraglider (“PPG”). There are two basic types of paramotors: foot launch and wheel launch.
Foot launch models consist of a frame with a harness, fuel tank, engine, and propeller. A hoop with protective netting primarily keeps lines out of the propeller. The unit is worn like a large backpack to which a paraglider is attached through carabiners.
Wheel launch units usually have three (trike) or four (quad) wheels, with seats for one or two occupants.
