A winter tattoo could make a good “souvenir” to take home from your travels, and you will have it forever. It will not break in your luggage, and it will always remind you of the trip.
And if you think winter is not a good time to have one, let me convince you otherwise.
Less sun and seawater help your tattoo
Although we love them, these two are not good friends with our tattoos. Any tattoo artist will tell you to avoid going swimming – sea, pool, lakes, rivers – for at least two weeks and to protect your tattoo from the sun. And we have plenty of both here on the island.
Plus, in case you didn’t know, UV rays will cause the pigment in your tattoo to fade, and in the end, if you’re not careful, it will not have the aspect you were aiming for.
With these two things considered, you will understand why winter is perfect to get a tattoo.
No heat, no sweat, faster healing for a winter tattoo
In the wintertime, even in Cyprus, you will sweat less and your tattooed skin will heal more quickly. This will reduce the chances of infection and will ensure the entire healing process is at its best.
Winter clothing will offer you protection from the sun, so you don’t have to always remember to add some sun protection cream.
Plus, the experts say it takes up to six months for a tattoo to heal, period when it needs extra attention. Considering this, again it is easier to get your tattoo in the winter months.
One of the most important things you will have to remember if you decide the get your tattoo in the winter is to moisturize because the air can be drier compared to the summertime.
Make Cyprus your tattoo destination
Choose the Island for a winter holiday or a city break and for sure you can find a talented tattoo artist.
Nicosia, Paphos, Limassol or Larnaca, all these places have tattoo studios for all kinds of preferences – realistic, fine lines, abstract – you name it and most probably you can find it.
Be sure though to book your session in advance, because these people here are busy.
And even in Ayia Napa you will find places open during winter.
The pictures and videos for this article were taken at Station 26 in Protaras, and if you choose them for your tattoo, you can also find Tony and Panaos in Larnaca, at Inkbox tattoo studio.
