Kataklysmos 2023 is the first holiday that brings the Cypriots to the sea. Normally, it signifies the beginning of the summer. Looks like it is not the case this year.
It is the first time when at this time of the year the weather is at least strange, let’s say. Not hot yet, cloudy and with rain almost every day on some parts of the island. Actually, it looks more like Flood Festival than it ever did before!
But, the celebration will go on, with or without the summer heat! We have concerts on Saturday and Sunday, we have open markets in all the coastal cities and for sure we have people ready to have fun!
Kataklysmos (Festival of the Flood) is Larnaca city’s largest and oldest celebration. This name is included on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List as: The ‘Kataklysmos’ Fair (celebrating Pentecost).
This event takes place in Larnaca for more than 100 years.
All the major events take place at Finikoudes. The concerts, the open market and tha tasty food also.

Book a table if you want to be able to eat in the evening
Because there are so many locals coming in places close to the sea it is very difficult to find a free table in the evening, especially at the local tavernas. So, it is safer and wiser to make a reservation to be sure you can enjoy your dinner.
Parking on Kataklysmos 2023
Now, this can be a difficult thing to do. And that is because everybody on the island is moving in a car. So, if for example, you want to go to a concert and find a place to leave your car, then go there earlier and find something to do in the area.
Some of the municipalities, like the one in Paralimni, said that on Sunday you can park for free everywhere in Protaras.
If you want to travel by bus, have in mind the traffic and the possibility that you can be late.
