Halloween in Cyprus! Parties all over the island!

The end of October means Halloween. And this year, we have a few events on the island that you can attend. From parties in the park to a special dinner, from face painting to pumpkin carving, there is something for all tastes here on the island.

I have compiled a list and links for extra information if the event looks interesting to you. If you know of more events, you can add them in the comments for everybody to see!

The first round of Halloween celebrations will take place this weekend.

What is Halloween?

Halloween is a celebration on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Saint’s Day.

Celebrated in Ireland and Scotland for centuries, the immigrants took many Halloween customs to North America in the 19^th century.

Popular Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, attending Halloween costume parties, carving pumpkins into jack-o’-lanterns, and lighting bonfires.

One theory says that Halloween traditions were influenced by Celtic harvest festivals, which are believed to have pagan roots.

Also, Halloween is thought to have influences from Christian beliefs and practices. The word Halloween comes from “All Hallow’s Eve”. This is the evening before the Christian holiday of All Saints’Day on 1 November. (source – Wikipedia)
